For Silver Rain, the fall harvest doesn’t bring squash or corn. Our bountiful harvest season means cultivating, picking, and processing over 200 tons of hemp. 

Later on, this hemp becomes the building blocks of Silver Rain’s many CBD products.

A Look Into Our Harvest Process

Our Team

Harvesting over 200 tons of hemp doesn’t happen over night––and it doesn’t happen without a hardworking team either! At our farm in Southern Oregon, we boast a team of 80 employees who help complete the harvest each fall.

From growing, picking, drying and sorting the hemp, our employees help with every stage of the process.

Hand-Grown and Hand-Picked

Everything at our 40 acre farm is hand-grown and hand-picked. Each year, we cultivate thousands of hemp plants that are ready for picking in the fall.

When it’s time for harvesting, our employees pick out the healthiest plants and load them up for sorting, drying, and processing in our warehouse.

Drying & Sorting

Once the hemp makes it to our warehouse, we start the process of preparing it for production.

The first step in preparing hemp is always to dry it out. To begin this step, we use a hang-dry method. By hanging our hemp in large drying rows, we maximize their exposure to the air and cut down on humidity.

The lower the humidity, the less time it takes to fully dry out the hemp. It usually takes anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks to fully dry.

After the hemp is properly dry, it’s time for sorting.

The Silver Rain team bands together to sort out the different parts of the hemp plant. This means separating the hemp flower, seeds, buds, leaves and stems for their various different uses.

Off to Processing

Once our hemp plants are picked, dried, and sorted, they’re ready to go out for processing.

This is when our home-grown hemp becomes the basis of our many CBD products, along with a few all-organic botanicals and essential oils.
